Position / 01
A third force.
Z Lab does not replace a research department, and it does not carry the full productization and reliability mandate of an engineering team. Its role is the application frontier: integrate capabilities as they emerge, close a real-world loop quickly, and produce evidence about what is worth adopting.
On the software side, that means moving from agent reasoning through perception, control, and an end effector in days rather than quarters. On the hardware side, it means creating bodies and components that do not yet exist: sensing surfaces, wheel-leg mechanisms, custom actuators, grippers, and new companion forms.
