Z Lab / Project 03 / Prototype series

Original hardware.

New interfaces, mechanisms, and robot forms built around the capabilities a physical agent needs next.

Hardware / 01

Do not stop at the existing body.

Z Lab does more than place AI inside an off-the-shelf robot. When an emerging capability needs a new physical interface, the lab prototypes the mechanism: sensing surfaces, mobility systems, actuators, grippers, and complete embodiments.

These prototypes are intentionally exploratory. Many will be retired; a small number will prove useful enough to move into a product engineering path. The purpose of the portfolio is to find those valuable forms early through working hardware rather than presentation concepts.

Interfaces for physical intelligence.

  • Electronic skinSensing surfaces for contact, pressure, proximity, and interaction.
  • Wheel-leg mechanismsMobility concepts between efficient rolling and agile stepping.
  • Actuators and grippersPhysical interfaces designed around tasks and agent capabilities.
  • New embodimentsCompanion and service robot forms for human spaces.
